On Saturday August 28th Club Chairman, Andrew Quirke, was presented with the National award for Volunteer Coordinator of the Year. The award was presented at half time during the Challenge Cup Final at Wembley stadium.
The award marked almost 4 years of hard work attracting countless volunteers to the club who have made the club the success it is both on and off the field. The roles include coaches, photographers, administrators, caterers and first aiders to name a few.
Andrew enjoyed a full day of hospitality at Wembley which included a 3 course meal, a chance to meet stars of the Hull v Wigan 1985 Challenge Cup Final, seats in Club Wembley and an after match get together with players from the finalists Leeds and Warrington. Andrew took his wife, Beccy, who is also the Club Welfare Officer. Andrew met current Rugby League starts including Rob Purdham and Sky Sports pundit Brian Carney.
Andrew commented, ” to receive the award is a reflection upon the hard work and dedication that myself and a number of other people have made to developing the club to where it is today. The day was amazing and to step out onto the pitch in front of 85,000 people is an event that I will never forget. I hope my award encourages more people to come and join the club which continues to grow day by day.”
